ahem, as I was saying..

I think Peter Jackson stayed pretty faithful to Lord of the Rings - I also think he could have comfortably left out some bits in order to keep the films to a more reasonable length.

I also think the various directors who've worked on the Harry Potter films have done really well in sticking to the story.

I Am Legend on the other hand - that was a very different film to the book. Both good IMO, but not a true adaptation - more like a shared idea interpreted differently.

I will try to think of some more.

the shining has to be one of the best book to film adaptions, a classic.

The lord of the rings i felt also did justice to the books, the characters were pretty much how i imagined them, and it dint stray too far to the original story.

As a rule though i tend to find most films never live up to the book!

The book is fab, they really could not have picked a better actor than jack nicolson for the film, as i read the book he really fit into my idea of how the main character would be. Hope you enjoy it!

I think Harry Potter didn't do justice to the book.
They left out all the funny bits and lengthened the
battle scenes to an uncomfortable length.
